Lumsden's Volvo

Racing down the last leg on the elevated section to Dover ferry terminal a Volvo F89 of Lumsden’s is loaded with a tank for the B.A.O.R in Germany followed by another of his lorries, a Ford Transcontinental with a similar load. These tanks were regulary returned to England for updating and modification during the Cold War years and Lumsdens, who specialised in large loads and European haulage, had the lucrative contract to move them.

The energetic and no nonesense David Lumsden, a good friend and client of mine, is still in the haulage business and is one of those people who will never retire-—---he’s far too busy!

The original of this painting was in oils on a 20”x30” board.
